“We can continue to build new features or integrations,” says Duo Security Senior Lead Product Designer Jehan Cowan, “but without adoption, all of that effort goes by the wayside. So there’s a lot of focus and attention on ensuring that we drive value through to the customers. How I see it, adoption is the ultimate success metric of effective security and product love.”

This process ‘de-risks’ ideas and helps a business make better decisions about which ideas to pursue with minimal investment of time and resources. The designer’s craft, Jehan says, can help paint a strategic roadmap with a clear path forward. However, designers must be ok with putting forth something that is wrong, as sometimes it’s the best way to move forward.
